From the Slopes of Mt. Kenya: Introducing November’s Kirinyaga Microlot

We’re easing into the final stretch of the year with a refined release - Mutitu AA, a washed microlot from the celebrated Kirinyaga region. Perched on the fertile southern slopes of Mount Kenya, the Mutitu Factory has been operating since 1963, serving over 1,200 smallholder farmers who deliver ripe cherries for processing. With rich volcanic soil, high altitudes (1500–2000 MASL), and optimal climate conditions, this region produces some of the most prized coffees in the world.

The Mutitu team employs a meticulous washed process - involving double fermentation, extended soaking, and careful drying on raised beds that elevates the clarity and structure of each lot. The result is a coffee with remarkable precision and depth.

In the cup, this AA-grade lot bursts with jammy currant, mild dried apple, and clean caramel sweetness, all anchored by dark chocolate and a juicy, lively acidity. It’s a beautifully balanced coffee that will shine as a filter brew and impress as a single-origin espresso.

Only available this November, this microlot is an excellent addition to any coffee lover’s rotation. If you're looking for something expressive, bright, and deeply satisfying - this one’s for you.
