Our drinking chocolate comes from the makers of some of the world’s finest chocolates. The chocolate is sourced from Africa where a much drier climate produces a richer less acidic chocolate. These cocoa beans are roasted to perfection and then ‘Dutched’ to create a smoother more mellow chocolate. Our Drinking Chokolat is not ‘overly’ sweet but is rich, dark and very more-ish!

Aztecs and cacao


Chocolate starts its history as a beverage in early Mayan and Aztec cultures. The wild beans were roasted and added with other ingredients to form either hot or cold frothy drinks. The Aztecs believed that drinking chocolate gave mortals the wisdom of the Gods.

Bringing back the booty & The invention of chocolate

Columbus brought Aztec cacao back to Europe. The fearless Italian happened across a Mayan trader and spied beans he mistook for almonds. The Mayan was reluctant to part with his goods, so he stole them.

The krafty Dutch learned how to create the delight we know today as chocolate. Dutch chemists invented a process for extracting the fat from cacao. In 1928 a Dutchman called KJ Gerkens built a factory and his chocolate became an instant hit. Yahava Drinking Chokolat heralds from this same world-famous factory where we make it much easier for you discover.

Enjoy Hot or Cold

Hot Chokolat

1) Put 3 heaped teaspoons of Chokolat in a glass (and we mean heaped).
2) Add a splash of boiling water.
3) Stir the mixture into a syrup.
4) Fill the glass with hot creamy milk and stir well.

Iced Drinking Chokolat

Repeat steps 1 to 3 but then fill the glass with chilled milk, chocolate ice cream and ice cubes. **Add some Peppermint Essence and make delicious Peppermint Choks, either hot or cold.

How Can I Use the Yahava Chocolate Powder?

Yahava’s Chokolat Powder can be used to make hot or iced drinks or added to Yahava Koffee to make mokhas.

How Do I Make A Cup Of Drinking Chokolat?

Put 3 heaped teaspoons of Yahava Chokolat powder in a (250ml) glass or mug, (and we mean HEAPED!). Add a splash of boiling water and stir the mixture into a syrup. Then fill the glass or mug with hot creamy milk and stir well and top with a dusting of Chokolat powder. You can make a chilled Chokolat drink exactly the same way but pour in chilled rather than hot milk.

How Do I Make A Cup Of Peppermint Chokolat?

This is a real treat. Add 3 heaped teaspoons of Chokolat in a glass or mug, (and we mean HEAPED). Add a splash of boiling water and stir the mixture into a syrup and then pour 15mls of Yahava Peppermint Essence into the syrup and stir again. Fill the glass or mug with hot creamy milk and stir really well and top with a dusting of Chokolat powder.
You can make a chilled Peppermint Chokolat drink exactly the same way, but pour in chilled rather than hot milk. Make sure you stir it thoroughly to get the chocolate mixed through the milk. Treat yourself with a topping of whipped cream or ice cream on the chilled drink and top with a dusting of Chokolat powder and a sprig of mint.
